CHAKIWATA (1984 - 1994) – Chama cha Kitaaluma Cha Walimu Tanzania
In 1984, Tanzania has established the 1st professional teachers association 23 years after independence. It was known as Tanzania Professional Teachers Association.
The objectives:
1. To promote and protect the teaching professional as well as to maintain high standards for moral academic and professional ethics.
2. To promote the professional interests of all teachers by raising their knowledge and skills in the profession. It was all about giving knowledge through seminars
3. To become a source of written materials for advancement of members and general public and to promote interests in the teaching profession.
4. To encourage teachers to be professional in their works also they have to be examples in cleanliness and good conducts in general to the entire community of the students.
CHAKIWATA emphasized the teachers to be the model.
5. To bring teachers together in meetings from the time to time to discuss problems facing the teaching profession in seeking ways to solve them.
Also CHAKIWATA intended to bring teachers together so that to create networks, links and connections through seminars.
6. To become a body that represents the teaching profession in various matters and acts as an advisor to the government on issues concerning teaching profession.
7. To promote and protect the rights of members (teachers) in the quest for academic develop.
8. To form a link btn CHAKIWATA itself and other international associations through meetings, symposiums, studying tours and other means.
