Qualities of a Good Test
A good test should be valid, reliable, practical, useful to students, and unbiased.

vi. Comprehensiveness of a test
The term validity refers to whether or not the test measures what it claims to measure
A valid test is that which test what it is supposed to test
i.e., the one which covers the content taught and measures accurately behavours described by learning outcomes
Reliability refers to consistency with which the test/examination produces the same or nearly the same results under different but comparable conditions.
A reliable test must produce similar results
- even if different teachers administer it,
- different people score it,
- the same person takes it at different times
Practicality
Test procedures should be realistically practical in terms of their cost, time taken, and ease of application and economy of materials and the proper mechanical make-up of the test.
For example, with a large class, it may be convenient to use only a paper-and-pencil test rather than set up numerous practical testing situations.
