The subject of history is one of those subjects that most of the students find boring. Many students are good at their studies but, still, they find it hard to learn history, while some are not interested in studying this subject.


How to Study History: Preparing for Examination or Assessment


Do Not be Biased While Learning History. Try to learn completely and do not bias the topic/course.


Writing short notes. Writing your notes in chronological order is one of the best ways to study history as it helps to create a storyline in your head, making memory recall easier.


Take More Quizzes and Exercises: Quizzes will not only help you to study history but also, it will help you to know how questions are asked or how difficult the questions could be in exams.


History as academic subject in Tanzania


History is one of the compulsory core subjects for Form I-IV students in the General Education pathway. The purpose of learning History is to enable students to use historical events in society to understand themselves and the world around them. 


It includes studying various aspects of society and society to understand how it came to be the way it is and how they impact the world, thus, being responsible for themselves, others and the Nation at large.


Form Three History students should have the ability to demonstrate knowledge on the causes of the major crises in the capitalist countries and assess their impact on Africa, knowledge on the motives of the struggle for independence and evaluate the strengths, weaknesses and contribution of the efforts made and strategies used by the African people to achieve political independence.


Demonstrate knowledge on the efforts made to bring about social and economic, development in Africa after independence and assess their strengths and weaknesses, knowledge on the efforts made by African nations to promote international co-operational and interdependence and assesses their achievements and problems.
