Itsekiri resistance


The resistance occurred in 1892 to 1893, in Benin kingdom in Anioma territory in the Niger delta between the natives and the British. The natives were under Nana Olomu. In 1894, Olomu was defeated and surrendered in Lagos.

Opobo resistance


The British against the kingdom of Opobo of Nigeria under King Jumo Jumofe “Jaja” of Opobo. Jaja was born in Umuduruoha in Igboland in 1821, he was sold as a slave in Bonny at the age of twelve. He resisted the British merchants to trade directly with the interior palm oil producers. In 1887, he was arrested and was tried Accra Ghana. He was taken to London and West Indies. He died in 1891.
