Different roles to identify the teachers’ moral education
1. morality or moral issue can be taught in classroom or in lecture room (as a subject)
This can be done through two ways:
a. when we teach morality through subject based moral education, and
b. through extra curriculum
2. There setting where teaching morality is inherently in academic disciplines.
For example philosophy – in teaching philosophy, you can implicate some moral issues; sex education (through its academic discipline), but there are some moral issues might be addressed; religious education; political education etc.
So, although we don’t have a subject called morality, we have those academic issues addressing morality like citizenship education in civics.
3. Students can learn about good life or specific character traits i.e. behaviours from the conducts of their teachers. Teachers becoming models for students to learn i.e. exemplars of moral contact.
4. The use of approach or method in teaching. A method can either encourage or discourage moral.
Some methods do not give students a chance think critically and also to learn moral issues.
