History of Graduate Teachers in Kenya
- In 1972 an education commission under professor Ominde succeeded to convince/persuade the Kenyan government to convert a military base (barrack) at Kahawa in Kenya to become a constituent college of the University of Nairobi dedicated to training and producing teachers formthe purpose of expanding secondary education sector (Kenyatta University College).
- In addition, since 1985 Kenyatta University became an independent University of the University of Nairobi specifically focusing on production of graduate teachers for the teaching profession.
In the same vein, a number of universities in Kenya have been started and most of them have teacher preparation programs, these include MOI University, Maseno University, Egerton University etc
