THE EXPLORERS


These were travelers with the purpose of scientific (geographic) expedition of the hidden treasure of Africa’s interior. E.g. Mungo Park Richard Burton, Henry Morton Stanley. John Hammington, De Brazza and others they were sent by Europeans.


THE FUNCTION OF EXPLORERS


They investigated the areas with trade and exposed the information of then European powers. They prepared maps and information of Africa’s’ interior.


They were the researchers. They looked for areas with new markets and raw materials demanded by European Capitalists. They exposed the information to the colonial masters.


Civilization of African. They spread the European ways of life such as dressing styles, eating styles, food, Christianity and others.


As geographers, they prepared maps and written documents which made Europeans (Colonialists) access Africa’s interior easily.


Some signed bogus treaties with African chiefs E.g. Mr. Henry Morton Stanley who signed treaties on behalf of king Leopold II in Congo (Zaire).
