The Mahd resistance of 1820 to 1885 against Egypt and the British. The Mahd were the rules of Sudan.


FROM SOUTH AFRICA


The Anglo-Zulu war of 1879.


It occurred in South Africa between the Zulu under King Cetshwayo KaMpande, Ntshingwayo Khoza and Dabulamanzi KaMpande against the British under Sir Henry Bartle Frere, Lord Cheimsford and Garnet Wolseley. The British won the war.


About 1,902 British were killed and 256 wounded. About 6,930 Zulu were killed. The most crucial stage of the war was at Isandlwana where many British soldiers were surrounded and killed. 


The Anglo – Zulu war of 1876. It was caused by drought in Zulu-land, the killing of the missionaries, the expansion of Cetshwayo’s army, the loss of independence, the age regiment of the Zulu. The Zulu were under king Cetshwayo, the British were under Bartle Frere, many British soldiers were killed at Isandhlwana and revenged at Ulundi to defeat the Zulu.


The Kaffir wars: These were the wars of the xhosa and the Boers, fought in the years 1779, 1789, 1803. The Ndhalambi Kaffir war of 1812, the Makanda Kaffir war of 1891,   the Macamo / Tyali Kaffir war of 1834, the Kaffir war of 1846, the Malenjin Kaffir of 1850 up to 1855 between the British and the Xhosa.


The causes of these wars were many among of them were the outbreak of locust plague, European colonialism, shortage of land and other causes.
