WHY MAJIMAJI WAR FAILED

THE REASONS FOR THE FAILURE OF THE MAJIMAJI WAR.

The wrong beliefs. Kinjeketile’s theory proved to be a failure when the German bullets didn’t turn into harmless water: The Africans were badly massacred.

Lack of communication. The Africans didn’t communicate well militarily E.g. There was no central command unit to unite all fighters. They were decentralized.

Late of joining. The war didn’t start in all areas at the same time. The Germans encountered one ethnical group after another. The late joining made the African forces weaker before the German force.

Technological backwardness. While the Africans used outdated weapons such as spears, the Germans used modern weapons such as guns with advanced military techniques.

Germans scorched military earth tactics. The German forces burnt the African food crops field and made them starve to an extent of becoming weak to fight.

Lack of military preparation. The natives didn’t perform military exercise and rehearsals before waging war against the Germans. They concentrated much on psychological preparations.

Weak ethnic groups. The Ngoni were the only experienced and strong fighters, others had no strong fighting experience. The Hehe and the Nyamwezi who were believed to be strong didn’t fully join the fighting.
